Join us for SIX monthly meals from November!
We are delighted to share some exciting news—Jemma Vickers is back, bringing her culinary magic to our community! Last year, thanks to a grant aimed at combating food poverty, we hosted ten community meals in Tegryn, feeding up to 70 people at a time. These meals quickly became a popular hit. We realised there was a real need for a space for the community to come together to enjoy good food and have a good old natter without breaking the bank.
West Wales is a hub of enthusiastic growers and mindful smallholders. It is very important to us to support people in our community by showcasing their top-quality produce. This reflects a core value of CARE: to support our community in becoming more resilient. We are so fortunate to know the farmers who raise our lambs and the market gardeners who grow bright red beetroots, freshly plucked from the earth just hours before they hit your plate. Let us celebrate this quality, getting togther with cooking up a storm to eat togther!
We open the doors at 3:30 PM to start cooking and invite anyone who would love to help with chopping, peeling, sautéing, and generally stirring the pot! We tend to serve from around 5:30 PM. There is no need to book; just show up. It’s wonderful to see people using the space to knit, natter, play games, and hang out. It's all very casual!
While the funding has changed, our commitment to fostering a strong sense of community remains. We are eager to find ways to ensure that these community meals continue for the foreseeable future, preserving the essence of inclusivity with our 'pay what you can afford' philosophy.
Just like last year, the choice is yours when it comes to donations. We’ve introduced a donation guide, suggesting a range of £5-£10 per person. Your contributions ensure the sustainability of these gatherings, making them accessible to everyone in our community. And for those facing financial challenges, we extend a warm invitation to join us for a meal, regardless of the donation amount.
We're kicking off on WEDNESDAY 15TH NOVEMBER with a Middle Eastern showstopper of a meal: Lamb Shawarma and Butternut Squash Falafel served with flatbread.
Get these Wednesdays in your diary: November 15th, December 13th, January 17th, February 21st, March 20th, and April 17th. For any questions or to get involved, please reach out to us at meals@cwmarian.org.uk. Let’s come together, share a meal, and create lasting memories. We look forward to welcoming you to our table and savoring the joy of community meals! *If you are a market farmer and would like to be inviolved in supplying our meals with your lovely food, then please do get intouch!
